As much as I would really like to have saved myself heartache, embarrassment or gossip, I also know that my biggest mistakes have turned into my best lessons. And sometimes my greatest career triumphs. If my life had been turbulence-free, maybe my music would be beige, maybe the stadiums wouldn’t be full and the mantle would be a little more empty.
Friendship is not by force but by choice. You can never please everybody, he who aims to please everybody will end up pleasing nobody.

You can shortcut the need for a genetic advantage (or for years of practice) by rewriting the rules. A good player works hard to win the game everyone else is playing. A great player creates a new game that favors their strengths and avoids their weaknesses.
Your career is like a garden. It can hold an assortment of life's energy that yields a bounty for you. You do not just need to grow one thing in your garden. You can do more than one thing in your career; in fact, the more diverse your talents, the more successful you will be. Seek personal and professional development. Continuously learn and challenge yourself.
Love doesn't mean career, money or success. It goes beyond all mundane needs to impress. You can even find your passion and your bliss. But without love there's just so much you miss.
Release your need for approval. Feel liberated being the authentic person you were designed to be.
I believe ... that you must collect and pursue all your passions. Let your desires lead you to foreign territories. Your path might look scattered for now, like you have no direction or clear aim, but I believe that one day, all these ideas and spread-out skills will combine and create a creation of impact, a combined masterpiece of everything you found to love, and that will be your legacy.
Everything changed when I switched from saying “I have to do this” to “I GET to do this”. When I started viewing my art as a way to serve instead of building for my own profit. When I tried to meet people with an open heart and a will to love them instead of guarding my own history of solitude and brokenness. Dedication. Giving. Loving. That is the goal.
Ability determines if you can; attitude determines if you will.

How does one know you’ve “made it”? You no longer feel like you have anything to prove to anyone. You have no regrets or resentments from the past, anger that you’re working from. No people you want revenge on or songs you want to sing in order to finally speak your mind. Instead, you work from a place of wanting to do the work only, without any attachment to the outcome.
