Being liked or not, having company or not, being understood or not, being acknowledged or not are not issues of concern on the spiritual path.
It could be said that we become so much a stranger that we disappear and find ourselves reborn in the midst of humanity which is quite a paradox.
Even the juncture in history and the zeitgeist we live in is something we choose, setting the scene for the spiritual fodder we need to grow and achieve deeper elevation of our souls.
Do not rely on the outer world as your measuring stick for your own spiritual growth. Rely on your response to the outer world to determine how much you have grown.
To an ego, being ignored is equivalent to annihilation. To not exist is any ego’s greatest fear. It is a warranted fear because the ego does, in fact, get annihilated in proportion to the growth of one’s spiritual realisation. However, the rewards of spiritual development so outshine the feeble offerings of the ego that it is an insignificant price to pay. Does one begrudge paying a small price for something invaluable?
Oneness is experienced when you are aware of this moment as yourself, then as the other object and then as the one universal self. You may sense that everything within close proximity and beyond becomes a deep conscious; spiritual occurrence.
Manifestations of good and evil, saints and sinners, make up the world. A person can be spiritual without being religious. The religious view that a particular list of actions are right or wrong (moral absolutism) has virtually nothing to do with the fundamental realization of a person’s spiritual identity. Admirable spiritual people are generous and kind, and seek personal growth through actions devoted to creating mindfulness.
The heart is the infinite, divine part of you (your spirit). Your spirit knows who you are and what you're here to do. The heart is your inner knowing, the part of you that transcends mere emotions or intellect and sees and knows the path you need to follow.
